Maritime History
Today people who get into danger at sea are rescued by lifeboats. These boats are specially made to protect the crew. They are unsinkable and can go to the rescue even in very bad storms. The Ramsay Dyce was a lifeboat that served in and around Aberdeen in the 1950s and 60s. It was owned and run by a volunteer group called the Royal National Lifeboat Institution or RNLI for short.
