Applied Art refers to the design or decoration of everyday objects such as clothes, cups, jewellery and furniture. Decorative art, fashion design, graphic design and interior design can all be described as part of Applied Art.

The Aberdeen Art Gallery and Museums Applied Art collection includes fine examples of ceramics, jewellery, metalwork, glass, furniture and textiles. A range of examples can be seen on display here in changing themed exhibitions.

Orange Lustre Vase, 1914 - Ruskin PotteryThis Orange Lustre Vase was made by the Ruskin Pottery in 1914. William Howson Taylor's pottery quickly established a reputation for unusual glaze effects. It produced a wide variety of lustre glazes, from bright lemon through to deep orange.
