Provost Skene's House - 17th Century Georgian Dining Room

How did people live in the past? It can be difficult to imagine anything of past times, but as you walk around Provosts Skene's House you can experience how rich people lived in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. The rooms recreated the atmosphere of these times, with appropriate furniture and decoration in keeping with the styles of the period.

Your tour begins in the 18th century Dining Room with its impressive mahogany table from 1790. The chairs were inspired by English furniture maker Thomas Sheraton and the stylish sideboard by the architect Robert Adam.
